Shanghai recently played host to the textile industry’s premiere machinery and technology shows – ITMA Asia + CITME – held concurrently over five days in June 2014. Held every two years, the shows have become a must-visit event for Asian buyers in the industry.
Event managed by Pico’s subsidiary MP International, both shows were an undeniable success, attracting around 100,000 visitors from 102 economies – a full seven percent increase over the last shows held in 2012. Eighty percent of the visitors came from China and the rest from overseas, including significant numbers from India, Japan, South Korea and Indonesia.
Apart from MP International’s role, several Pico teams came together to design and fabricate stands for a number of clients. Our teams in Japan activated stands for MURATEC, Tsudakoma and T-Tech Japan; our Taiwan team created a stand for Stäubli and Shima Seiki was brought to life by Pico’s Hong Kong, Dongguan and Shanghai teams.
For the MURATEC booth, our clients wanted to highlight their pioneering VORTEX spinning machine, which weaves threads helically to produce a high-performance, high-quality material. Centred around this display, the booth had diagonally-cut white panel walls, wooden flooring and meeting rooms with elegant glass panels, creating a clean-cut image for the company and its products.
Tsudakoma’s 500 sq. m. booth re-utilised materials from previous displays, as per the company’s Smart Ecology environmental design. Their logo was delivered as a motif on the booth’s glass façade, underlining their commitment to quality and the environment.
The Shima Seiki booth was inspired by modern Japanese architecture, and took more than 40 staff to install in seven days. A semi-double booth, it was developed with a plain white structure and wooden elements, accentuating the company’s strong, stylish, spacious and simple image. Twenty metre-long windows provided an eye-catching stage for the clients to display their garments.
Thanks to the success of the 2014 ITMA Asia + CITME shows, interest is already high for the next exhibitions to be held in 2016.
