Mozambique at the Africa Joint Pavilion at Shanghai World Expo 2010

To emphasise the country’s accomplishments in regional, sustainable development, the Mozambique Pavilion focused firmly on ‘the new’. The pavilion was divided into four areas, linked by the ‘Zambezi River’ - a school, a hospital, a modern residential building and a traditional cottage. Each area was subdivided into different projects, showcasing success in domains from public engineering to education, to science and technology, to ecotourism. This exciting and energetic series of displays was activated by Pico’s interior decoration, exhibition and multimedia teams: the school - symbolic of Mozambique’s education and culture - was made of traditional materials; while the hospital was made to look like a modern building, full of displays on the country’s scientific and technological progress. The residential building highlighted four major projects: public engineering, urbanisation, road construction and a hydro-engineering groyne, while the small cottage was made as authentic as possible.
