Qatar Pavilion at Aichi World Expo 2005

Pico ‘designed and miniaturized’ Qatar into a 648sqm display to demonstrate the deep contrasts between modern and old Qatar. Interactive touch-screen displays engaged the viewers while revolving round a traditional Qatari setting. Traditional fishing boat and handicraft displays were exhibited with live demos, while a tartan running track with ‘athletes’ was also constructed to promote the up-coming Asian Games 2006 in Doha. Visitors were introduced to the largest educational project in the Middle East, the Qatar Foundation, before exiting via a cinema showing the past, present and future of Qatar.
