Pico Hong Kong lauded for dementia support

For the past two years, Pico Hong Kong has been visiting The Salvation Army’s Tai Po Multi-Service Centre for Senior Citizens, offering support to the elderly and the dementia sufferers among them. A progressive disease, dementia causes a gradual deterioration in its victims’ everyday functions. Emotional and behavioural difficulties can also occur.

In December 2018, Pico’s support was recognised when it was cited as a ‘Dementia Friendly Unit’ at Tai Po Dementia Care Link’s Appreciation Ceremony. Tai Po Dementia Care Link was set up in 2017 by The Salvation Army in cooperation with local hospitals with the purpose of training ‘dementia supporters’ for those afflicted with dementia. The supporters can greatly improve the day-to-day lives of sufferers and their families alike.
