Insight

COP28 provided an unparalleled opportunity to influence global sustainability practices. Accordingly, the Singapore Pavilion needed to stand out and convey a compelling message of sustainable innovation. By utilising materials and design approaches that resonate with the principles of a circular economy, the Pavilion would mirror Singapore’s commitment to a climate-resilient future.

Solution

Pico delivered a holistic suite of services to conceive and execute a distinctive and sustainable Singapore Pavilion. The Pavilion was designed to be a community hub, attracting a diverse audience with its thoughtful integration of neutral tones, vibrant accents, landscaping and curated green walls, all reinforcing the image of Singapore as a ‘city in nature’.

In partnership with AIRLAB, the Pavilion featured a canopy primarily made from 3D-printed recycled plastic waste, exemplifying the use of innovative technology for repurposed materials. Designed for modularity, durability and reusability, the structure was engineered to be disassembled post-event, facilitating its subsequent display at a larger venue, reflecting an ongoing commitment to sustainability.

Additionally, the Pavilion emphasised the importance of accessibility and inclusivity by featuring livestreaming as the centrepiece of its digital experience. The user interface was thoughtfully conceived to ensure a seamless high-quality viewing experience for online attendees. This enabled viewers from around the globe to engage with the Pavilion's content, ensuring an extensive audience beyond the venue.
