Pico Wins Best Booth in Pavilion Design Award at BEX Asia 2016

Innovative use of green materials was just one of the award-winning qualities of the Building and Construction Authority’s (BCA) booth at BEX Asia 2016.

Designed and built by the Pico Singapore team, the installation received the 'Best Booth in Pavilion Design’ honour at the exhibition’s Green Space Award. Held at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore during 7-9 September, BEX Asia is one of the region’s premier green building trade shows. The Green Space Award programme recognises participating companies’ excellence in creativity, innovation, and use of green elements in their booth designs.

As well as noting its use of recyclable materials, Green Space Award judges commended the BCA booth design for its innovation, accessibility, and clarity of demonstration.

The booth was the result of a challenging brief calling for a design that would highlight the organisation’s mission in two ways: through a distinctive and functional design, and through extensive use of recyclable materials in its construction.

Pico’s final design was a standout at the show with its white-and-green colour scheme, chequered walls, an artificial turf floor, and its clever use of wood to enclose a high-tech display screen. A simple open-plan layout provided ample space for visitors to
stop, explore, and move around. Its most eye-catching feature was its upside down plants, which grew downwards from the ceiling.
